Scott Airport Parking announced the grand opening of the newest, fastest pet hotel and parking facility in Austin. Bark&Zoom, Austin’s One-Stop Park and Pet Hotel, is the newest covered parking facility located on Austin-Bergstrom International Airport grounds.
Bark&Zoom is a state of the art pet hotel which also includes covered airport parking. The pet hotel will be operated by Taurus Academy, an Austin “home grown” company with over 23 years in the pet care and training industry. Founded by career dog trainers, their focus has always been on enriching the lives of Austin pets and pet owners through the social and behavioral as well as physical health of their clients. Their staff engages in ongoing health and behavior education to keep their operations cutting edge and to ensure that they stay at the forefront of their industry. “We’ve always been dedicated to making dogs’ and peoples lives better in the Austin community. This opportunity gives us the perfect chance to take that one step further,“ said Melanie McLeroy, co-owner of Taurus Academy.
The environmentally friendly facility will feature dog and cat boarding, a pet pool, Indoor and Outdoor play yards, Zoom Valet at self-park rates and Car Care Services. Bark&Zoom has also partnered with ZippiVet for daily scheduled appointments and emergencies. The covered airport parking portion of Bark&Zoom will be managed by its sister facility, Park&Zoom. The convenience of closer covered airport parking and pet boarding services under one roof means time and savings for ABIA travelers who are also pet parents. The new facility will be open 24/7, so both your car and your best buddy will be ready and waiting when you arrive back home. Services will be available to the general public, not just those traveling through ABIA. Best of all, there are no breed restrictions at Bark&Zoom.
“When we sought a new parking service that offered our customers something they had never had before in Central Texas, Scott Airport Parking delivered with Bark&Zoom,” said Jim Smith, Executive Director, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. “This public/private partnership has transformed previously unused airport property into a service for pet owners flying Austin.”
“We are excited to bring this innovative addition to ABIA which will provide a cost and time saving convenience for the traveling pet owners of the greater Austin area,” stated Bradley Scott, President of Scott Airport Parking.
Bark&Zoom is located at 2601 Cardinal Loop, just across from the airport on Highway 71, making one-stop drop off and pick up a breeze. Reservations will be required to board your pet. Reservations and other boarding requirements can be found online at www.barkandzoom.com or over the phone at 512-817-BARK (2275).
Bark&Zoom is also heavily involved with three local Austin area charities: LifeWorks, Mobile Loaves & Fishes, and Helping Hand Home. Bark&Zoom will donate $1 to these charities for each of the first 15,000 customers that sign up for the frequent parker ZoomClub.
Austin Animal Center Full, Reduces Dog Adoption Fees
The rain and flooding has forced the city to relocate all 55 of the dogs housed at the Town Lake Animal Center to a large community room at the Austin Animal Center campus on Levander Loop. This in addition to the more than 50 dogs that have been brought in to the shelter.
This means that there no available kennels for dogs coming in over the next few days and the city is asking for the community’s help. “The Austin Animal Center is currently very full, says Chief Animal Services Officer Tawny Hammond. “If you find an animal in your neighborhood, please call 311 or use the Austin 311 app to create a Found Animal Report. Please try to find the owner and work with your neighbors and friends to find a safe place you can keep the animal for a few days before bringing it to the animal shelter.”
The Austin Animal Center is calling on anyone interested in fostering a dog to come to the Center through Tuesday, April 26, 2016 and staff will process foster applications on the spot, sending people home with dogs that same day. “We have so many dogs that need a safe place to stay for a few days. Currently, there are dozens of sweet, senior dogs who would benefit enormously from being in a home instead of a kennel. Fostering right now is truly lifesaving,” asserts Hammond.
The center has also reduced the adoption fee for dogs to just $20 through Friday, April 29, 2016. The Austin Humane Society will also be matching the reduction of adoption fees to $20 for dogs and cats.
Can’t foster but looking to help? Here are five ways you can help Austin shelter pets today:
[gdlr_dropcap type=”circle” color=”#ffffff” background=”#000000″]1[/gdlr_dropcap]Donate clean, flat sheets and wire crates. Both items are in high demand and you can drop them off at any time.
[gdlr_dropcap type=”circle” color=”#ffffff” background=”#000000″]2[/gdlr_dropcap]Bring enrichment items and treats like Kong toys and Nylabones for the dogs. You can pick them out yourself or easily donate through Friends of the Austin Animal Center wish list.
[gdlr_dropcap type=”circle” color=”#ffffff” background=”#000000″]3[/gdlr_dropcap]Come help care for the dogs. Dogs still need bathroom breaks even in the rain, so people are encouraged to put on rain coats and take a trip to AAC to help walk dogs.
[gdlr_dropcap type=”circle” color=”#ffffff” background=”#000000″]4[/gdlr_dropcap]Adopt. If you’ve been thinking of adding a family member, now is the time to help save a life. The Center has all breeds, ages and sizes so families are sure to find the right fit.
